The Pragma team is delighted to have supported Lion Capital in its acquisition of the DMC Crafts Group (DMC).

Lion Capital, a leading international private equity firm specialising in investments in the consumer sector, has acquired DMC from BlueGem Capital Partners.

DMC is a global platform of needlecraft brands. It was formed in August 2016 by BlueGem Capital Partners as a consolidation platform for complementary yarn and thread brands. The platform's core business is DMC, a French business which is the number one global leader in embroidery thread with a 250-year heritage. Wool and the Gang, a digitally native knitting kits and premium yarns brand, was acquired at the same time as DMC. The platform was later complemented by Sirdar, an iconic UK heritage knitting brand. In 2018 DMC generated over 90 million Euros across over 100 countries, affirming DMC as the European leader in the needlecrafts space.

Pragma supported Lion Capital with commercial due diligence.  Pragma has built broad expertise in the crafts market, which is estimated to be worth more than £3 billion in the U.K alone.
