About the brand

Founded 20 years ago, Be At One is the UK’s leading chain of cocktail bars, with reported sales of £39m to the year ending April 2017. It operates 33 sites across the country, grounded in its “mixing up memories” ethos.  The brand’s relentless focus on service and quality is underpinned by significant investment in training, which is unparalleled in the on-trade market.


The Challenge/Task

This focus, combined with its well-executed guest engagement through fun, energetic promotions and marketing, has supported the successful roll-out of the estate. Be At One has 17 sites in London, with others located across cities including Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Birmingham, Reading and Cardiff.

What we did

Pragma’s work focussed on providing a thorough understanding of Be At One’s marketplace, the profile and behaviour of the target customer, and the business’s headroom for growth in the UK. 

The Result

The buyout comes at a time when both high street retailers and F&B operators are struggling amidst rising industry costs. Stonegate itself has reported strong growth.

Stonegate has stated it plans to operate Be At One as a standalone, eighth format with its wider portfolio of approximately 700 predominantly high street pubs and bars.  It has confirmed it will continue to expand the brand, as well as invest in its existing estate.
