Analysis leads to greater customer dwell and product interaction

Client:
Nuance

Location:
Bristol

Task:

To understand how passengers interacted with the Nuance tax and duty free shop at Bristol International Airport.

What we did:
  • Detailed in-store customer flow and behaviour analysis
  • Recorded dwell time by shop area and items browsed, picked up and bought
  • Analysed factors encouraging/discouraging dwell/purchase
  • Passenger interviews to further explore reasons for behaviour
Result:
We presented the client with a series of recommendations for improvements to the shop layout and merchandising to encourage greater customer dwell and interaction with products.

Our recommendations were incorporated into the design of the Nuance store that was opened as part of the Bristol Airport retail development in 2005.
